Are your flag charts too tall and narrow?

See this link for help on Adjusting your flag chart - best practices.

  • As you work on fanning out events, you may see patterns emerge for disseminating (sorting out) events. For example, a busy chart may have several events in a year. Try putting events that are relatively close together in time fanned out into a horizontal line. By carefully placing them roughly along a horizontal line, they start falling into place visually. This can be fine tuned by trying to get as few horizontal lines within this branch as possible. Select an event. Use CTRL + arrow keys to more precisely define position.

  • Drag groups of events as needed.

  • Move the timescale as needed.

  • Move the Legend as needed.

Tip: Place them in date order, so that they appear more naturally during a step-through presentation.
