The both are identical. One is run in Timeline Maker, the other is run in PowerPoint.
Timeline Maker has a built in presentation mode with various display options. This allows you to "present" or show one or more of charts, event by event if desired. Just click F5 to get started.
In PowerPoint, you can insert and view these same timeline charts - including their presentation functions - with other PowerPoint slides for a seamless and powerful presentation.
In Powerpoint, find Timeline Maker on the menu and insert an Interactive Timeline Chart.
A presentation allows options such as step through, so you can show one event at a time as you progress through your chart. Or you can display the entire chart at once. it's up to you.
Click F5 or Show your presentation to get started.
